Amy Sargeant
Candidate for LPC Licensure
I believe we all have the potential for wellness and flourishing but often life, and circumstances get in the way. These things can become more than we can handle on our own and sometimes we need to meet with a professional to learn some skills to better cope, and untangle emotions and circumstances. People were made for fellowship, and I would be grateful to be that safe someone who you come to see for unconditional compassion, love, and support. My counseling approach incorporates several different approaches to therapy, and I am EMDR and IFS trained. I utilize the approach I feel fitting for what you bring into the counseling room as I do not believe any modality is a one-size-fits-all and customize our sessions and time for what you need on a session-to-session basis.
I fully believe that to be “well” we need to work from a holistic wellness model for mind, body, soul, and spirit. I find that the most significant change happens when we embrace the goodness of the gospel and let Jesus meet us in places of weakness, pain, and confusion. However, I will only include a Christian framework if you want it incorporated in your counseling and can cleanly keep that separated from your counseling if it is your wish. It is very important to me to value and accept all clients, backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. I work hard to understand your issue, come up with a collaborative goal, and work with you to get better. My passion is in working with adolescents (15 and up), young adults, and women.
A little about me: I have a background in youth and adult ministry. I am also a mother three teenagers (one in college) and have been married 23 years to my Marine who is now working as a civilian. I specialize in helping with life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and specifically love working with mother-wounds, attachment issues, and other traumas.
